3d Printing service launched

Media Studio's 3d Printing Laboratory launched its services at the Health Enterprise East Innovation Showcase event this week. On show were examples of high fidelity 3d models for various applications, including:

  • Surgical planning models segmented from CT scans - used for planning maxillofacial and orthopaedic surgery as guides for plate-bending and rehearsing the preparation of autografts.
  • Clinical engineering prototypes - full-colour 3d printing used for rapid prototyping.
  • Structural models of biochemical compounds and cryo-electron microscopy 3d images.

The showcase event was held at the Wellcome Genome Campus, Hinxton, and featured many of the innovations that HEE have helped to develop.
