NESTA Helping in Hospitals project kicks off at CUH

Following a successful competitive bid to the innovations charity, NESTA, CUH is one of six NHS Trusts to be awarded £100,000 of Cabinet Office funding to develop their volunteer workforce in a programme called Helping in Hospitals.

Under the leadership of Giles Wright, CUH's Head of Volunteering, the Trust aims to use the funding to double its number of volunteers. That means recruiting at least 500 new volunteers. Many of these new volunteers will be supporting older patients, helping reduce anxiety and confusion for those with cognitive impairment and improving patient nutrition. There should also be the benefit of reducing the length of patient stays.

At Media Studio we're excited to be involved in many ways to support the project, with displays, presentations, photography, video and design for public awareness and recruitment campaigns.
