New workflows for clinical video recordings in cleft care

Media Studio's Cleft Imaging Team Leader, Abbey Hespin, and Cleft Image Technician, Joe Matthews, have published an article in the Journal of Visual Media in Medicine titled New workflows for clinical video recordings in cleft care in which they describe how legacy analogue systems for capturing, processing, storing and cataloguing cleft images were transformed into a seamless digital workflow. This work has led to more reliable recording of clinical photographs, 3D images and video recordings of cleft patients throughout their treatment. Streamlining the various recording methods into a coherent digital workflow has benefits in clinical audit, patient monitoring and assessment, and time saved in reviewing recordings of cleft lip and palate patients. Video recordings include video fluoroscopy, nasendoscopy, surgical procedures and speech & language therapy.
