Does everyone who goes to their GP get the same treatment, regardless of their ethnicity?

In a research project aimed at improving patient experiences in primary care, Institute of Public Health researchers Jenni Burt and Natasha Elmore devised a set of sixteen vignettes that were filmed and edited by Media Studio, using role-playing actors. After watching the scenarios, which are based on transcripts from real-life consultations, members of the public will be invited to take part in a survey to compare their reactions to the different styles of communication.

The project forms part of Professor Martin Roland’s ‘IMPROVE’ programme of research funded by the National Institute of Health Research, which has the overall aim of improving patient experience in primary care.
