UKeMED - a new, international, online education resource

Knowledge is one of the most valuable commodities in medicine.

CUH and the other NHS Trusts that make up the Shelford Group have a vast resource of clinical teaching and case review that would be extremely valuable, if only you could bottle it. That, essentially, is what UKeMED is designed to do. By recording high-quality educational sessions and making them available to subscribers via an online platform, the project will deliver educational content 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to anywhere in the World.

Media Studio are involved with the UKeMED project, working alongside Greek Telecom giant, Intracom Telecom and project managed by Celeritas UK. We will be filming and editing a range of activities, including presentations, medical and surgical procedures, interviews, discussions, grand rounds and MDT meetings. The high-quality productions will be linked to searchable metadata and delivered via a cloud server so that they will be viewable by individual subscribers on computers and mobile devices.

With major partners such as the Mohammed Bin Rashid Academic Medical Center at Dubai Healthcare City and the 2,000-bed First People's Hospital of Changzhou, China, UKeMED will be a truly international operation based in Cambridge and with some of the best and most influential clinical teachers represented. We're very excited about this project. Keith McNeill, CUH Chief Executive stated that the project was 'a joint venture to promote the excellent education and training we provide here to an international audience' with 'a unique global distribution strategy via global telecom providers'.
