Kim collects a double award for ophthalmic article

Media Studio's Ophthalmic Imaging Team Leader, Kim Baxter, is celebrating her success in receiving two awards for her article on a specialist imaging technique in the Journal of Visual Communication in Medicine. The journal publishers, Taylor and Francis, presented Kim with the award for the journal's best article in 2017 at the Institute of Medical Illustrators' Annual Conference in Harrogate for her paper, Clinical uses of autofluorescence in ophthalmology. But it doesn't stop there – the Institute (IMI) had also decided that the article merited the prestigious Peter Hansell Memorial Award. Very few of these medals exist and Kim is the first to be presented one for three years.

The late Dr Peter Hansell was a pioneer of clinical photography in the UK and was Director of the Medical Photography and Illustration Departments at the Institute of Ophthalmology and Westminster Hospital, so Kim's article would have been of great interest to him. He would also have approved of Kim's election to IMI's Council at the Institute's AGM. Congratulations on all counts!
