The power of images – fresh new photographs for Royal Papworth Hospital

Royal Papworth Hospital has got a lot to talk about and it gets its message over with genuine photographs of real Papworth people at work. With the imminent move to a fantastic new building, celebration of the hospital's 100th anniversary and gaining the Royal epithet it has been a busy year for the Trust's excellent Communications Department. There have been lots of stories to tell, but also some substantial challenges to go with the move from the village of Papworth Everard to Cambridge Biomedical Campus. One of the major challenges is for Royal Papworth's staff, who have had to plan for changes in their travel arrangements, some even moving home to be nearer to Cambridge. Alongside that is the need to recruit new staff in a wide range of jobs.

Alongside that is the need to recruit new staff in a wide range of jobs.

The communications team, led by Kate Waters, made the conscious decision in rebranding the Trust to lead with images in all its campaigns,  showing the world what a unique organisation Royal Papworth is. With all the excitement of moving to superb new, state-of-the art premises, Royal Papworth Hospital has not forgotten that its most important asset is its staff. That is why they feature so much in all of the hospital's communications – whether in print, on the Trust's website or in social media posts.

Photographs feature in all the Trust's communications, and that requires a stock of images that can be used in recruitment campaigns as well as staff and public communications throughout the year. To build up its library of photographs Royal Papworth commissioned Media Studio to visit their wards and departments and capture the daily life and work of this unique hospital.  But sooner or later the library needs to be refreshed with new images and new faces. Media Studio recently made a second visit to Royal Papworth to photograph staff in their daily work, doing all kinds of jobs.

Here are just a few examples of the photographs we took of just some of the people who make Royal Papworth a world-class provider of cardiothoracic medicine.
