Congratulations to Media Studio Clinical Photographer, Vanessa Shepherd, who won the 2018 Julie Dorrington Award for the best presentation in the New Voices session at the IMI Annual Conference in Harrogate. The award is particularly satisfying to receive because it is decided by audience voting. Vanessa showed how a basic command of words and phrases in British Sign Language (BSL) can be extremely valuable in improving the experience of patients who have a hearing problem when they are undergoing clinical photography. After the presentation a number of audience members queued up to ask Vanessa for more information on how they could enrol in a BSL course.
