CUH wins prestigious Innovation Award

Congratulations to Emma Nickerson, whose project 'Use of model plastic arm and demonstration videos to teach patients to give their own intravenous antibiotics at home' won the Award for Service Improvement at last night's Health Enterprise East Innovation Awards Ceremony. The Outpatient Parenteral Antibiotic Therapy (OPAT) Service at Cambridge University Hospitals enables patients to be treated with IV antibiotics as an outpatient or at home, instead of having to stay in hospital.

Media Studio worked with Emma to produce a series of eight instructional videos to help teach patients how to self administer antibiotic injections at home, which reduces the length of their hospital stay and number of outpatient appointments, while ensuring that the drug is given correctly.

This award recognises the fantastic work that the OPAT Team does at CUH and we look forward to working with Emma and her dedicated team of doctors and specialist nurses to make even more instructional videos for their patients.
